Marta Brasili 🇮🇹

Marta was born in Milan, Italy. Marta completed her BSc (2018) and MSc (2020) in Biotechnology at the University of Milano - Bicocca. During her Master’s Thesis, she investigated the role of a new synthetic agonist in the modulation of TLR4. In January 2021 she moved to Zurich where she did a research internship at the Laboratory of Neural Circuit Assembly at the University of Zurich where she study the synaptic pruning at the level of interneurons through microglia. In July 2021 she joined the Müller Lab at the University of Zurich as research assistant and later stayed on for a PhD, investigating the role of homeostatic synaptic plasticity at human synapses. To achieve this, she is using a human iPSCs-derived neuronal cellular model that will be used to study homeostatic synaptic plasticity with a combination of confocal- and super-resolution microscopy, as well electrophysiology approaches.

In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, hiking, painting and traveling.
